NoAds Advanced and Fanboy Ultimate

Post by tancrackers »

I do not know if it is the filter I use or if it is the extension.
The following site uses redirect ads:
http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/

Here is an example of a redirect ad:
http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/xtra/moj ... &ad_type=1

Opera's NoAds advanced blocks the url and I cannot browse on the site because of this.
Here is a screenshot of the site being blocked:

I use Fanboy Ultimate filter (the greatest thing ever!).
I reported this to the developer of NoAds advanced and here is his response:

iwantautocomplete
&ad_type=
This must be blocking it, but I can`t say for sure. You have to find it out on your own. Check my file here for more info:

I have no problems with adblockplus on firefox and chrome, no problem with safariadblock, and did not have a problem with noads (regular). However, I have to resort to noads advanced because it is actually able to use privacy tracker filters and does not crash facebook unlike the other noads extension (opera). Opera adblock is no option to me as it lacks customization and is not maintained.
Finally, is there a way that adblock extensions like adblockplus and noads can block a redirect ad and send you straight to the site intended? Thank you!

WIth opera, if a filter is loaded in a redirect url, i'll block the page out right. A limitation of Opera.

Ok, and is there a way to navigate these sites without getting redirect ads?

Unless they change the url, no, just disable the urlfilter for the redirect? not much I can do there

So I tested this using easylist instead and I got brought to the redirect ad with no problem.
I'm gonna test out other fanboy lists and see if I can narrow anything down.
