Wow .. it didn't take long for the spambots to find their way, did it?

I removed it. Shame what's happened to the Web

Ouch... Please don't remove the next one that fast - I want to take a look at it first.

I've still got it in my cache. I can't tell you the IP address or anything, of course, but I could send you a copy of what I can see if you want it...

@Wladimir ...

Just a thought:

As an SEO, I would think the spambots are probably following the links from the old ADP site. ;-(

No problem, I got everything from the logs already. He found us in Google - the session he tried to use was previously used by Googlebot. Which means that I have to make it harder for him...

Wow ... think it's human input? I always thought that the few that came to my forum were also 'human' generated too. The postings were too inconsistent for a bot.

@rick752: No, this was very obviously a bot, but he managed to find the fields to fill out - meaning that it isn't hard enough yet.

PS: It identified itself as MSIE 6.0 - which could be true, it is probably using the IE ActiveX control to mimic user input.
PPS: Non-sense, the User-Agent string is a fake - and I can block this particular bot but the mistake in the User-Agent.

CAPTCHA?

(Should one of us start a thread where this isn't totally off-topic? :P )

Probably ... but one last thought.
Wladimir, you probably shouldn't react too much to this unless it repeats a couple of times. I've had this happen in my forum ... but only on very few occasions.

I'm done, Peng ... it started here ... was easier to finish here. Sorry :-)

@Peng:
I don't think so. This particular bot is blocked now, and I'll find less destructive methods against the others as well.

Sorry WP.. it's a habit to jump on the spam. I'll let you handle it next time unless you are away.

PS Want me to split this out into another thread?

Yep, it seems you can do things like these here... Ok, now we have it in a new thread :)
