How to block this popup window attempt in thepiratebay

Post by darkblue »

To reproduce:
in a clean Firefox 40 profile install ABP 2.6.10 and EasyList
Make sure that there are no cookies for thepiratebay.*.
Open thepiratebay.se (you'll be redirected to either (thepiratebay.mn, .la, etc).
Do a search, eg. for "linux".
On the results page, click either of the checkboxes (Audio, Video, Applications, etc).
You'll see that a full-size popup window will attempt to open, but it's immediately closed.

I've tried having Firefox' Network Manager open while this happens, but there are no entries.
Also, there's no popup window blocked by Firefox at that time.
Examining these checkboxes in Page Inspector, I saw that they are bound on "click" event to call the 'rmAll ()' function.

How can this be blocked?

Thank you

install some cookie manager
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... ager-plus/

modify the expiry date of this cookie (choose ...2050 for example):

Name: tpbpop

and ...don't delete it anymore

I have not set Firefox to delete cookies, (eg. at Firefox close), neither do I delete tpb cookies manually.
The issue happens very frequently, daily, whenever you're redirected to a different domain, e.g. to .la instead of .mn.
The reason why I wrote "Make sure that there are no cookies for thepiratebay.*." in my STR, was to make your that the issue could be reproduced all the time.

Thanks for your reply. I'll edit the tpbpop cookie in all domains.
