ITV player in UK

Post by triangle »

This probably will apply to all browsers but I use this one so here we are. ITV player has this last week started putting up a message where the add break would have been saying along the line of "we detect you are using add blocking software and in future those that are, will be unable to watch the shows unless it is disabled."
I was wondering if the devs are a step ahead of the makers of itv player and are ready for whatever ITV player have planned. I would guess not but perhaps ready to act on it when they see it in action.
I loathe ITV adverts, they go on and on. Much worse than youtube.
If the devs are unaware then here I am glad to enlighten them. Best of luck.
THanks for making a great addon.

I just tried to play a clip on the ITV Player and spotted this too - had to disable the Adblock Plus to get the clip to work.

The problem the Adblock Plus makers are going to have is that if whatever ITV are doing to block Adblock Plus spreads to other sites
such as YouTube etc then no-one will want to use the Adblock Plus program any more.

That will mean the end of their business.

So hopefully they come up with a fix to get around ITV Players restrictions we now have.

And we can continue to watch adfree :)

What business? They don't make money from it. But yeah if it works for ITV it wont be long before every other site uses it.

I just had to click "disable adblock for itv.com" and it works fine. I don't get why people need to uninstall it. I am on FF.

I'm having this issue as well, I tried blocking ITV from taking cookies off me to see if I could stop the trigger when itv.com asks Firefox if Adblock is installed to no avail.
I'm no coder or programmer but I'm sure you just need to disable this trigger and it'll be fine

I had the same problem with FF on PC and Mac, without ever having any Adblock software.
The simplest workaround is to switch to Google Chrome, even if you only use it for itv.com

STOP USING ITV THEN...think about your actions. ITV get a great number of people having to view ads once more, price of advertising then goes up on ITV other sites then have to use the same method to get more revenue.

To stop ITV calling the shots just use Solarmovie for TV shows, if its blocked on your internet service just google 'solarmovie proxy' click the top website click the big green unlock button, select TV shows tab by search bar and boom every tv show ever made.

Please for the love of AD-Blocker don't use ITV's site. We all installed it for a reason, our lives are AD free and amazing thanks to this simple addon. Please lets just keep it this way, pass on the message of Solarmovie or any other sites that can be used. Don't forget the issues we all used to have with Ad's on everything, everywhere!!

Just to point out they do make money from it... just because you didn't donate anything does not mean no one did. Whats a few pounds for a software add-on that removes all ad's and 90% of getting a virus by clicking something stupid... Don't disable ADblock...just don't use ITV.

If your smart enough you will find ways around, try googling a Streaming site for your show instead.

I have just tried this and ABP does not block the ads any more on this site

Chrome or FF

Just to add to the above, it does not ask for ABP to be disabled, it plays as normal but the ads in the video are played.

now the itv ads can not be blocked (if you block them the video itself will be blocked)
