I remember an older version of adblock or adblock plus that allowed you and option to "support site" ... my understanding is that it was a sort of "semi-whitelist" - the idea being you'd still download the ads so they'd register as an impression and the site owner would get paid, but adblock wouldn't show them in the actual site.
I liked this option for a lot of smaller sites I visit that I want to support without necessarily having to diminish my browsing experience. Is there a way to mimic this behavior in the current version of ABP short of a full whitelist which would result in me actually having to look at the ads?
what happened to the "support site" option?

But that function's usefulness is basically gone anyway, no one pays for ad
display anymore: The whole "ad economy" has moved on to clicks as the curency.
Are you sure chewey? I'm no expert but from what I hear they DO pay for placement. The way it goes is lower pay just for placement.. then more if they click then even more if they finally buy the product. I've never dealt with advertisers but there is a site I goto and trust the people there and they DO get paid for placement, evidently.
Not trying to say what anyone should do. Just repeating what I've heard.

I know for sure that at least a few of the sites specifically I'd like to use this option on still use impressions as the currency, and I'd imagine others still do as wellchewey wrote: But that function's usefulness is basically gone anyway, no one pays for ad

No I'm not.IceDogg wrote:Are you sure chewey?

I'm an expert for the removal of ads, not for placing them.

But I have the impression (pun totally by accident) that the big ad networks like google
and others have mostly moved to per-click pricing, and I seem to remember that this was
also part of the reasoning behind the decision to remove that feature.

lol, Ok chewey. I just thought you knew something from research or what not. I was truly asking, not trying to refute your statement. I thought maybe the site I was talking about was rare.
amaru, I would whitelist the site and just view the ads for a while, every so often, to support them. Then disable the filter for the majority of the time or when it bugs you. I doubt they get very much just for views though.
Or you could use stylish for that type of thing.
