A Firefox usage statistic thought

Food for thought:

I noticed that there were a few statistical reports last month that said that Firefox usage was down a bit from some previous levels.

Do you really thing that is the case?

What happens when users start blocking the stat sites that bring you these reports?

No, there is no reason whatsoever for a decline in Firefox usage. These stats are simply by far not exact enough for this kind of statement.

I am inclined to agree with your statement, Wladimir.

How can any site give an accurate report of a particular browser? It would have to depend on what the site's main subject content was.

eg: I suppose that a security site would always gather more IE users

Sure, I can give you an accurate report of Firefox usage on adblockplus.org. I would even eliminate most bots (bots are ~20% of my audience). Are you interested?

Yes, I am pretty sure you are right.
I expect Gecko - let's not forget those non-Firefox browsers :-) -
usage to be "measured" (that should probably read guessed)
lower than it really is due to stat blocking, most notably on sites
with a tech-savvy audience and a third-party stat provider.
