Blocking ads

Post by Dragon »

How come when I block an ad the same ad just comes back later?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, this whole thing about filters and stuff is confusing me X.x

most likely because they are linked to an ad server that has a thousand other twin ads to replace the specific one you blocked.

Same issue as this thread: http://adblockplus.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1208

If you still have problems, give us a link to the site in question.

The one on the top replacing the forum banner isn't that bad I think.

But if you insist, installing Easylist to ABP should take care of that: [url]abp://subscribe/?location=http%3A%2F%2Feasylist.adblockplus.org%2Fadblock_rick752.txt&title=EasyList[/url]

Alternatively you can use this code:

Code: Select all

http://pagead2.

And additionally to either Easylist or the code above, you can also supplement with this code:

Code: Select all

forums2.battleon.com#TABLE(bordercolor=#333333)
(actually if you can live with the ad in the topbanner, this last code alone should be enough to hide all the ads at the bottom of the forum threads)

Nah I don't mind the top ad, as the banner hides it pretty well. It's the ones on the bottom that I just can't stand.

Thanks for the help ;D

Hehe, I shouldn't have imposed my personal opinion on you like that. It's completely your choice after all, if you feel they are annoying or if you want to save bandwidth or want faster page load, don't hold back for my sake :P

Don't forget ABP Fan, that an #element-hide saves nothing ... it is only for visuals. Element-hiding rules still download the element as they are only hidden on your browser. Only regular adblocking strings 'block at the source'.

Yep that's why I told him not to hold back. I was referring to the http://pagead2. code that block the topbanner :P
