ABP Blocking too much at lifehacker.com.au

Post by jputting »

Hi,

I have had this very annoying problem with ABP filters blocking far too much content such as images and even whole articles on lifehacker.com.au, the content was allowed when ABP was disabled for the entire website and the pages were reloaded.

One example: http://www.lifehacker.com.au/2012/10/mu ... ng-cancer/ Entire article can't be read and picture can't be viewed unless ABP is disabled for lifehacker.com.au and that page is reloaded.

The report for this page was https://reports.adblockplus.org/c992b59 ... 3d629827c8 with attached screenshot.

I was using Fanboys Ultimate List and decided to remove that subscription and try Easy List, but the same thing occurred again. I have found that there are a few adblocking filters which were causing my problems.

I have had to add exception rules for the following:
@@||bs.serving-sys.com/BurstingPipe/*
@@||ds.serving-sys.com/BurstingCachedScripts/*
@@||network.alluremedia.com.au/network/www/delivery/*

There may be other exception rules I may need to create in order for all content on lifehacker.com.au to be viewed correctly.

Hopefully this won't occur again, But if I still dont see everything I just click on my ABP toolbar button, select Open Blockable Items and take a long hard look at what is blocked and then via a process of trial and error I only make an exception rule for those filters affecting my viewing of the lifehacker.com.au pictures and articles.

It seems that lifehacker.com.au is deliberately forcing us to disable ABP to view pictures and articles.

This is NOT related to other Firefox Add-ons, because this problem occurs with all other extensions are disabled and only ABP is used.

I have also tried creating a completely new Firefox profile and emptied the Cache and Cookies and did NOT alter the default Firefox configuration.

The only alteration was my installation of ABP and Fanboys Ultimate List or Easy List: Please Note Only One ABP Subscription was used with Malware Domains at a time.

Hi fanboy,

It is not just pictures being blocked by ABP but with regards to the page mentioned, the major part of the text content of the article regarding Multivitamin Use and Cancer was also blocked as well as the articles images.

Some pages on lifehacker.com.au do seem to display properly, But with other pages and articles you simply have to disable ABP and reload pages then you can see a difference which you may not otherwise notice.
