Well, you know, browser vulnerabilitites tend to be local exploits, so being behind
a router doesn't help you a bit. And as quite some of Firefox's holes are in its
cross-platform internal JS code, running linux doesn't change a thing either. I hope
you don't use the password manager (credential stealing) or do your banking with
this antique (XSS stuff).

Chewey, I hear what you are saying. Off-topically, in my MS windows installations I have all kind of scripting suppressed or severely restricted (even in the so called trusted sites zone MSIE is set to *ask* before allowing any script). I have found that, for my - non typical - use of the web, scripting is seldom needed and no, I don't do commerce or banking or, goodness forbid, pr0n' on the Net ;=)

I am relatively new to the Linux desktop and only now starting to migrate my main computer uses to this OS (SuSE 9.1); thanks to your warning I shall soon be installing the Noscript extension for FF.

Are there other extensions that you would recommend beyon ABP and Noscript, from a security pov ? Keeping in mind I'd rather keep the number of extensions to a minimum, being an enemy of the bloat in general.

Regards,

I use FormFox (v 1.6). When I hover over a "submit" button, it shows the link that will be followed for submission... Handy if you are worried if you are on a hijacked page or on some of those mixed https/http pages and you want to be sure that the data is being sent securely.

I also use Master Password Timeout (5 minutes of non-keyboard use disables the password vault in FF)...

Yes, I am sure many are cringing at using FF Password Vault--anything better out there?
