Washington Post articles don't display properly

Post by Will »

When viewing articles on http://www.washingtonpost.com, all page elements are in a single file vertical column, whereas usually there is a sidebar of page links and the article to the right. This problem is resolved when adblock is turned off.

Oh, and I am using latest versions of Firefox 2.0 and Adblock Plus.

If you are using the EasyList subscription, that should have been fixed yesterday (just manually update the EasyList if you are using it). A layout change there caused it to wrap weirdly.

Argh... Will is using Filterset.G and he already sent me a mail which I replied:
That's a so-called false positive: a filter in Filterset.G blocks http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/ad/ad_v2.js on this page, something that shouldn't be blocked. You can either add an exception rule for it (add the filter "@@|http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/ad/ad_v2.js|" to your list, without the quotation marks) or remove Filterset.G and subscribe to the EasyList/EasyElement combination (http://adblockplus.org/en/subscriptions) which works fine here. I recommend the latter, my reasoning: http://adblockplus.org/en/faq_project#filterset.g

Doesn't matter Wladimir. This was something brand new and it was fixed without whitelisting. It actually broke the page layout.

The string that affected it may be unnecessary in the EasyList now anyway.... time will tell. In any event, I have it logged in case I need something "exactly similar" now.

I guess it was somebody with the same issue - who sent me a very similar mail only a few minutes before Will posted this in the forum.

This happens when there suddenly is an issue with popular sites.
I got more FP reports for "no attachments in gmail" than for everything
else since the beginning of 2007 :-)
