banner.js

Post by oceano »

Hi

First of all this si a first post and I'd like to say that I simply, and absolutely love this addon! Thank you!!

The matter at hand - I've just joined a new major web project - I'm assisting with a very large non-profit site that uses a file named banner.js in the header which is getting blocked by my Adblock Plus Addon and therefore the header (and the horiz.navigation) for the site does not appear. For me frankly this is the first time I've run into this problem with adblock and it took me some time to undestand why I wasn't seeing the page headers. And for most people they do not know to check the Adblock filter because this is not registered as an ad-tab they can see on the page.

It is of course easy to give permissions to the site in the Adblock controls --- once someone knows to do this.

The requirement of changing this file name seems over the top in complexity to the website administrators and we were wondering if it would be possible to have a filter exemption built into Adblock to allow banner.js for this domain?

Also I do also use Adblock Filterset.G Updater

Any thoughts out there? Mark

I have no influence on Filterset.G (even more, I do not recommend using it). You can try to report this false positive in the Filterset.G forum: http://www.filtersetg.com/forum/

Good point, I have uninstalled the Adblock Filterset.G Updater but the problem persists.

Any other ideas beyond changing the file's name?

Uninstalling Updater is not enough, you have to remove the subscription in Adblock Plus preferences as well.

Thanks, that did the trick!

But you know, removing Filterset.G on your computer won't really help this web site because there are still plenty of other people using it. So you still might want to report the false positive in the Filterset.G forum...
