prevent element download

Hi, I am using adblock for Chrome. I have used the "Easy create filter" option to clean up youtube. I do not want to see the comments section, as well as other elements and it works just fine for that.

However, I also want adblock to prevent the comments and other page elements from even loading. I cannot see them, but they must just be hidden, since if I look at the page source, the comments are in the code. Internet filtering software is very sensitive, and the amount of times I have had a youtube page blocked simply because some jerk has used foul language in one of his comments is unreal! So does anyone know how I can stop the comments, or any other offending page element which I block, form even being loaded, rather than just being set to invisible?

ABP cannot make the browser load only part of a page; also, HTML filtering was rejected for performance reasons: forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5977

Thanks so much for the quick reply - the thread was very interesting. Do you, or anyone else for that matter, know of any other way of achieving my end? Obviously ABP is out, but perhaps some other software or addon? Thanks for your help

Thanks for the script. Unfortunately it has the same problem - it only hides the comments and does not remove them or prevent the from loading at all.

I'm reasonably sure the only way to accomplish what you want is to use a local proxy like Privoxy.

Other options include The Proxomitron (freeware, not open-source, Windows-only, not updated since author's untimely death in 2004) and AdMuncher (not free, works poorly with HTTPS).
