[WorksForMe] Filters reset on browser close - Firefox
Re: Filters reset on browser close - Firefox
you must CLOSE firefox (firefox is blocking your file)
delete patterns.ini (better if you login like administrator)
then (if you dont see backup files)I uploaded for you a patterns.ini file:

Re: Filters reset on browser close - Firefox
This is typically an issue with the file permissions, they got corrupted somehow. Easiest solution is removing the adblockplus directory in your Firefox profile. On next Firefox start this directory will be created again and everything will hopefully work correctly then.
Re: Filters reset on browser close - Firefox
I tried both mapx's method and removing the entire directory, neither worked.
Re: Filters reset on browser close - Firefox
Could you copy "chrome://adblockplus/content/errors.html" (without the quotation marks) into the location bar and see whether it shows any errors?
Re: Filters reset on browser close - Firefox
You are running Adblock Plus 2.0.4b.3451, build 3451.
Errors related to Adblock Plus:
Error: No data in the file
Location: chrome://adblockplus-modules/content/FilterStorage.jsm line 381

Re: Filters reset on browser close - Firefox
Oh, I overlooked that. Well, that's the source of your issue. Some application on your computer locked the patterns.ini file and prevents it from being changed. You can probably figure out which one it is that using the handle utility but it is not trivial. But maybe you can simply rename the file (e.g. into "patterns.ini.bak) instead of removing it.Sakkyun wrote:I attempted the fix found here but I can't remove the patterns.ini file because it's "open in System."
Re: Filters reset on browser close - Firefox
if blocked you cant rename it
you could use a simple utility, unlocker to see who blocks and unblock the file you need
the last is 1.9.1, I'm using 1.8.5 : http://www.filehippo.com/download_unlocker/
with unlocker installed, right click on the file and choose unlocker ..

On NTFS you very often can.mapx wrote:if blocked you cant rename it
Re: Filters reset on browser close - Firefox
This is true; anyway, if Unlocker doesn't work (it doesn't seem to do anything in Windows 7 64-bit), try LockHunter: http://lockhunter.com/Wladimir Palant wrote:On NTFS you very often can.mapx wrote:if blocked you cant rename it
Then you can right-click the file and choose "What's locking this file?"
There's a buzzin' in my brain I really can't explain; I think about it before they make me go to bed.
Re: Filters reset on browser close - Firefox
The problem seems to have gone away since the new update. Thanks for your help guys.
