en/filters#options references background type of elements a filter can block, but filter like this

blocks all images, not only background images.
Is this option really supported?

Ouch... Yes, updated the documentation. xbl, dtd and ping options are no longer supported as of Adblock Plus 2.0, the distinction between background images and "regular" images has been dropped in Adblock Plus 1.3.
