How can we remove the "Exclusive Deal" banner close to the top of the home page? It's currently a dell inspiron laptop.
Those are paid advertisements.

Sure, but probably more self advertising (which is expected from slinkdeals), however if you add the following to your personal filters,

Code: Select all

slickdeals.net###dealarea

not sure what you mean by "more self-advertising". the ad is not about Slickdeals advertising itself.

The site is about posting the best deals. Those best deals are not ads paid by sponsors. But that dell laptop is an ad paid by dell to the website.

Looking into it further, I probably was wrong (though its understandable given the site is based upon advertising)..

For whatever reason that didn't work for me. I used this instead:

Code: Select all

slickdeals.net#div(id=dealarea2)

Is there any way to block the giveaway ad on Slickdeals?

Looks like legit content to me (competitions and such) but if I was going to remove it I would go with something like

Code: Select all

||slickdeals.net^*_banner_
To block what can easily be blocked and

Code: Select all

slickdeals.net###global_feature_content
To hide the whole top section.
