No blockable items in firefox 4.0? Anywhere?
No blockable items in firefox 4.0? Anywhere?
Since I installed the latest version of Firefox, it's become clear to me how important AdBlock is.
I can't get AdBlock to do anything.
If I right-click an image, the drop menu used to include an Adblock option; the option is no longer there.
If I click to "Open blockable items," the "Blockable items on current page" list comes up -- and it's always empty.
Am I doing something wrong? What would you suggest to resolve this?

Re: No blockable items in firefox 4.0? Anywhere?
I have the latest version of Adblock installed, and I can't get it to block anything, anywhere. It's enabled.
Re: No blockable items in firefox 4.0? Anywhere?
What other extensions are installed?
Re: No blockable items in firefox 4.0? Anywhere?
AdBlock Plus 1.3.7 and that's all. No other extensions.
Re: No blockable items in firefox 4.0? Anywhere?
That's weird... After opening the list of blockable items, please try going to chrome://adblockplus/content/errors.html - does it show any errors?
Re: No blockable items in firefox 4.0? Anywhere?
This is an issue that has been reported by another person recently and was resolved by renaming the "adblockplus" folder in the user's profile.
Probably not the same issue
Michael referred to a problem report which was site specific. I don't think that's the same situation the OP here has raised.
I'm seeing this problem recently for all sites, on my home computer and my work computer. Different versions of Ubuntu and Firefox. I suspect the same version of ABP, but I'd need to check that.
Right now I'm at my home computer.
Ubuntu 9.10
Firefox 3.6.16
Adblock Plus 1.3.6
Element Hiding Helper for Adblock Plus 1.1.1
I've tried renaming the adblockplus folder and restarting firefox. Doesn't help. ie Still nothing in 'view blockable items'.
Looking at my ABP preferences, it seems that my ABP Element Hiding Helper rules are still there. Also it looks like the subscriptions are still known, but not downloading properly. I can download the subscription URLs OK though if I point my browser at those URLs.

Yes, thanks for the suggestion, and this is what it shows:Wladimir Palant wrote:That's weird... After opening the list of blockable items, please try going to chrome://adblockplus/content/errors.html - does it show any errors?
You are running Adblock Plus 1.3.7, build be71f31a6ed3.
Errors related to Adblock Plus:
Error:
filter is undefined
Location: chrome://adblockplus-modules/content/Matcher.jsm line 214
Then it repeats the same error text about fifty bajillion other times (ok, about thirty times, but I felt like exaggerating).
What does that mean, and what can I do about it?
Re: No blockable items in firefox 4.0? Anywhere?
I've been having exactly the same problem since installing FF 4.0.1. I, too, get the "Filter Undefined" error.
Re: No blockable items in firefox 4.0? Anywhere?
That is EXACTLY when my problem began.kb wrote:since installing FF 4.0.1.
Re: No blockable items in firefox 4.0? Anywhere?
Ok, that's a starting point. So Adblock Plus loaded cache.js from your profile but for some reason failed loading patterns.ini after that. Which would cause exactly the effect you describe. Question is of course why it didn't load patterns.ini. Could you open chrome://adblockplus/content/errors.html immediately after starting the browser? That will hopefully show the initial error, before the "bajillion" of follow-up errors pushes it out of the list.YaoGuy wrote:Yes, thanks for the suggestion, and this is what it shows:

I don't think this'll be much help:Wladimir Palant wrote:Could you open chrome://adblockplus/content/errors.html immediately after starting the browser? That will hopefully show the initial error, before the "bajillion" of follow-up errors pushes it out of the list.

Just once this time, but no additional information.
Re: No blockable items in firefox 4.0? Anywhere?
I got the Adblock Plus data from a forum.mozilla-russia.org user, can reproduce the issue now. Looking into it right now.
Re: No blockable items in firefox 4.0? Anywhere?
Turned out that there was a data inconsistency between patterns.ini and cache.js, probably because patterns.ini got corrupted earlier. I added a change to resolve such inconsistencies automatically: https://hg.adblockplus.org/adblockplus/rev/fd3ff99dce2f. A development build with this change will be available in 10 minutes. I would like to hear whether this development build resolves the issue for the people who reported it here - I think about releasing Adblock Plus 1.3.8 in a few days.
Re: No blockable items in firefox 4.0? Anywhere?
Installed the dev build and it instantly resolved the problem - ABP functions just as before, which is to say perfectly. I'd failed to appreciate just how good the program is until the ads came back. Thank you!!!
