Your best element hiding filters

Post by ecjs »

Personally, I use these ones :

Code: Select all

guidetv.wanadoo.fr#div(sl)
guidetv.wanadoo.fr#*(bg_pub)
wanadoo.fr#div(l_comm)
wanadoo.fr#div(titre_l_comm)
wanadoo.fr#div(l_partenaires)
wanadoo.fr#div(titre_partenaires)
wanadoo.fr##.shopping
Moreover, there is this one in usercontent.css :

Glad "tripod.com#div(tb) "worked out! This is the userContent I use to block the MOST annoying and "elusive" ads/div elements on the planet IMHO - Yahoo. The following 2 filters are used:

/us\.i1\.yimg\.com/us\.yimg\.com/i/(mntl|reg)/
/yimg\.com(.*/adv/|/a[^u])(?!vision)/

plus this user content (you could put the filters in AB+ "element hiding" if you wished):
@-moz-document domain(yahoo.com) {
div#H4, div#nwad, #yredmods, #yregtxt, #yregad, #yregbnr, #yregft, #yregintl, #yreglocntnt, #yregpromo, #yregschbox, #yregwhatsnew, #yrgprops, #yschsec,
div#yss, div.content, div.ovt, div[class="modulecontainer topfilled"], #firsttd + td, #leftnavad, #maincontentad, #northbanner,
#spaceidframe, #swads, #Tableau_01,
body > table > tbody > tr > td > table > tbody > tr > td > table > tbody > tr > td,
body > table > tbody > tr > td > table > tbody > tr > td > center > table > tbody > tr > td > font { display: none; } }
If you copy and paste above, it comes out nicer when it isn't in a forum quote, one line less in userContent, Stylish script, or take the elements and place them in AB+. I'll find the link where Wladimir showed me (us) how to combine terms, if that's of interest, and post it here . . . . it is:

http://p2.forumforfree.com/42-vt450-adb ... &start=615
about half way down page, WP to me.
So I guess (to break it up into 2, alphabetically) it would be:

yahoo.com## div#H4, div#nwad, div#yredmods, div#yregtxt, div#yregad, div#yregbnr, div#yregft
yahoo.com## div#yregintl, div#yreglocntnt, div#yregpromo, div#yregschbox, div#yregwhatsnew, div#yrgprops, div#yschsec

but I'm not at all sure about the balance of them and I think you're out of look on the ">" stuff.

I am not the creator of this website. I found it on this page a few months ago : http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/adblock

While http://www.gozer.org/mozilla/ad_blocking is up to date, http://www.floppymoose.com was not updated since October, 20th 2004.

Well, I say "goldmine" because that's what many are "on to now" with the element blocking; I had seen much of this (and tested it) several months ago when considering using Stylish/userContent as an alternative to AdBlock.

Then WP came along, and changed the landscape significantly.

I was "this far" from dumping AdBlock altogether precisely 3 DAYS before 0.6 arrived.

I adapted a few filters for Stylish :

Code: Select all

guidetv.wanadoo.fr#div(sl)
guidetv.wanadoo.fr#*(bg_pub)
http://userstyles.org/style/show/323

Code: Select all

wanadoo.fr#div(l_comm)
wanadoo.fr#div(titre_l_comm)
wanadoo.fr#div(l_partenaires)
wanadoo.fr#div(titre_partenaires)
http://userstyles.org/style/show/322

Code: Select all

http://adblock.free.fr/antipub.css
http://userstyles.org/style/show/357

You shall have a try at the last one.

In my opinion, Stylish handles element hiding filters faster than Adblock Plus does.

Ever tried EasyList Element? It's a specific element AB+ filter that mainly targets ad space left-overs.
