Blockable items: filter by multiple strings

Post by Wladimir Palant »

Another suggestion from Mozilla Russia forum - if the search string in the list of blockable items contains multiple words show entries that contain all of these words. For example, searching for "object doubleclick" will show everything of type "object" with "doubleclick" as part of address (or document domain). Sounds like a nice to have to me, but I'm not sure how far I should go with making the search more flexible. Any comments? I didn't add this to the roadmap yet.

Or make it more flexible;
type:object doubleclick
type:script third-party (if you have a filter containing third-party)

That would make it non-intuitive - learning a new command language should not be required to use this UI.

There is already a solution built into Adblock Plus to filter exactly this type of information. So why not re-use the syntax for abp filters in the blockable items pane?

Reusing the filter syntax (the pattern part, not options) would be possible - that would allow you to search for foo*bar. But that's quite orthogonal to the proposal here IMO.
