problem on adsense pages

Post by tom »

when i've got adblock (with standard filter set) running, adsense pages look stripped of css, images and all the other goodies, making them more or less unusable.

In EasyList we made the decision to remove the whitelists that protected the AdSense control panel; problems on sites about advertising are common and are not unexpected due to the nature of advert-blocking subscriptions. However, you may always add the following filter to your personal list to deal with the issue:

Code: Select all

That's good news Michael, I never agreed with that one. But I moved on and just disabled it in my setup.

The decision was essentially made for the purposes of equality; we do not deal with problems on other sites about an advertising solution, so it would have been unfair to continue to whitelist the AdSense control panel.

Totally agree!!

Edit: further, for me I wondered where it would stop because of this. I thought it was a bad road to start down.

I don't understand.. so you are saying that you've made immensely popular website look garbage just for the sake of consistency with other ad portals? Or where there real technical problems that forced that decision?

Tom, you can easily disable ABP while there or even whitelist the site. Correct?

It was a policy decision made in order to avoid technical issues. If we were to fix the AdSense control panel we would have to fix problems on every other advertising portal too, which would be impractical, as key items could reasonably be stored in, for example, directories labelled adverts or adsense.
