Hi all.
My first post here.
Recently Firefox 3.5 was released and the Tab Mix Plus extension got broken.
One Google search later and I found a post to a potential solution to be found by visiting the following page:-
http://www.muwasalat.com/2009/07/tab-mi ... h-for.html
When I arrived, the page was displayed as an absolute mess of what looked like promos.
I looked to see if AdBlockPlus was disabled and found it happily running.
Now, I'm somebody who subscribes to many filter lists and also uses the quick-and-dirty options to create filters when legitimate sites start imposing on me other than for the service they normally provide.
I understand that these rules I choose to create couldn't be included in filter list subscriptions, as one rule that may benefit one person could break a facility that another uses.
However...
what the hell is going on with that page?
I'm not a web dev savvy person, so forgive me if my terminology is wrong, but there seems to be a lot of cross-linking on that page.
Viewing the blockable items on that page, a lot of the turn out to be spin-offs from legitimate sites. Google seems to be a large culprit here.
Could somebody try to fathom what is cr4p and what is not? or just tell me what is happening uniquely on that particular page?
I have blocked a lot of the Google stuff (and a lot of the others). It's weird, I didn't need it - Google still works - so why should others need it? Are Google now behaving arrogant like previous all-swallowing monsters, such as Microsoft and AOL and the like?
There also seems to be a trend of having many prefixes instead of "www." or having urls with both a prefix and one that just has the domain name coming directly after http:// . I will put in a feature request relating to having the quick and dirty filter rule selection encompass these trends.
Cheers,
