Why some filters show ! before them but when I edit them there is no !?

For example, /ads/*$~stylesheet

Any guess why?

Because this filter only has 5 characters, and cannot be optimized.
It's a slow filter.

Its origin is very irrelevant to the fact that it only has 5 characters...You can count then if you don't believe me.

Just a guess:

Although it is a slow filter it is very effective and can not be replaced by a single fast filter.

Yes, Rick has a few slow filters in his list - typically when finding a fast replacement would be too much trouble. But usually he tries to make sure that his filters are longer.
