Some CZDNET links go to Wrong Place
Some CZDNET links go to Wrong Place
Using Google Chrome on Win10 Pro. AdBlock Plus v 1.12.4 with Easylist (updated yesterday).
There is a ZDNET page here:
http://www.zdnet.com/article/ed-botts-w ... 9068018386
with lots of links to other articles. Some of the links on that page, with ADBlock enabled, go to some other ZDNet article. The correct article comes up for a couple seconds and then it goes to the wrong article. When the wrong article opens it is initially all blank but if your refresh the page that article comes up (but it's the wrong article).
Here is one of the links that fails. You can paste it into Chrome directly or click on the link in the original article (link #20) or click on it right here:
http://www.zdnet.com/article/windows-10 ... ompletely/
It's supposed to be about turning off Cortana but instead it ends up goiing to:
http://www.zdnet.com/article/researcher ... sing-beer/
Disabling ABP on ZDNet resolves the issue. This issue does not happen with ABP on Firefox.
Any suggestions?

Re: Some CZDNET links go to Wrong Place
I cannot reproduce your strange issue. Disable all other extensions and test again.
Try also the last dev build (but disable the current ABP stable): https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... ifjjdoepkn

mapx, No help disabling all the other extensions (I have very few). The dev build did not help - I tested the dev build with other extensions disabled too.

Re: Some CZDNET links go to Wrong Place
well, after testing a portable chrome + ABP, you should reset chrome and reinstalling ABP
Re: Some CZDNET links go to Wrong Place
Before I try some more of the testing suggestions, I have one more thing to note:
If I disable ABP and go to the page about disabling Cortana and then enable ABP and do a page refresh, the refresh ends up going to some other site.
In testing today it goes to a different site than it did yesterday. Curious.
So it seems that there may be something about the disabling Cortana page that causes the redirect.
For me, the unwanted redirects (or whatever they are) are 100% reproducible and have been for several days.
Here's the link to the disabling Cortana page:

Re: Some CZDNET links go to Wrong Place
Chrome Partable fails like regular Chrome with ABP enabled.
Just for kicks I tested EDGE and it works fine with and without ABP enabled.
I've looked at doing a Chrome Reset but I'd like to know that I can get my settings, cookies, etc back using the Chrome Sync stuff. I am signed into Chrome so it should have all my stuff and it should come back when I sign in again. Right?

Re: Some CZDNET links go to Wrong Place
if chrome portable fails the same it's very strange. It could be some other software installed in your system, the DNS you are using (of your provider ?) ..
try providing again the exact steps to reproduce the issue.
does it happens for other sites too ?

Re: Some CZDNET links go to Wrong Place
DNS: I've been using OpenDNS. Just tried GoogleDNS - no help.
Note that Firefox and EDGE do not have this problem.
I can't recall any other sites with this issue.
Since Chrome Portable has the same issue, I don't think a Chrome reset will do anything.
Here's how to reproduce:
Using Chrome to view this Adblock Plus forum, click on the following link:
http://www.zdnet.com/article/windows-10 ... ompletely/
That's it. No other steps needed.
When I click the link the correct page shows up momentarily and then it goes off to another page which displays as a blank page but a refresh brings up the full incorrect page.

Re: Some CZDNET links go to Wrong Place
I still cannot reproduce the issue.
You could file an issue on the bug tracker to catch the developers attention (you have to register a new user there).

Re: Some CZDNET links go to Wrong Place
Thanks for the help. I have another data point.
I installed Chrome Portable + Adblock on my other Win10 PC. Google Chrome has never been installed on that PC, only Firefox and EDGE.
Clicking on the link worked the first time but a refresh of the page showed the problem.
Subsequent clicks on the link failed without having to do a refresh.
I think I will just live with this small problem unless it starts popping up too much to ignore.
