filters against false information

Post by wessidemike »

I have a question or a suggestion for you guys. Maybe you'll like it maybe you won't. Is there someway to create a similar program to adblock, but that filters out bogus content on social media? For example, facebook is riddled with false news that mainly comes from a growing handful of companies that's sole purpose is to disseminate false information. I don't understand it. I have friends that share everything and everything they read on the internet as if it was published by the New York Times. And it's damaging to society. I just saw on the "real news" that (before the election) 38 percent of "republican leaning pages" had partly or completely false news on facebook while "Democrat" leaning pages had 19 percent. At best that's 1 in 5 articles that people used to vote for the president had at least some falsehood to it. And this doesn't just cause a problem with presidential elections. Perhaps you could partner with snopes.com or antoher fact checking website. Please help us rid the world of misinformation. To me it doesn't sound too different from what you already do awesomely well. Thanks by the way, and i donated to you guys. Keep up the good work.

ABP is working using filters: blocking, hiding, anti social filters, anti annoyances filters.

You'd want some new list fighting the false information. You should propose such new list on easylist forum and see what they are yhinking about
