Shortcut to enable/disable adblock would be useful

yes! look at this site for example http://www.hotspot.t3.to/. no matter how i change my settings, adblock keeps blocking the lower frame. i always have to open preferences to disable adblock if i want to have normal access to the site. so please do the shortcut or fix the problem

There already is a shortcut to disable Adblock:
CTRL+SHIFT+B

You can also open the preferences by pressing:
CTRL+SHIFT+P

The third solution is, to disable Adblock with the context menu in the status bar.

The last and probable best solution would be to add an site whitelist filter for this site.
Check Options
->
"Site Blocking / Whitelisting..."
->
"Add current site"
->
Add @@ in front of the name, by double clicking the entry to edit it.

When i got my new h.p. compaq presario, Windows xp, it came with Adblock. Now i am not receiving several free, regular sources i subscribe to. I suspect Adblock is the problem. I am a computer babe in the woods with limited ability to comprehend computer language. I need to know in simple language how to TEMPORILY disable Adblock.

Are you supposed to receive these 'regular sources' via e-mail or with a web browser?

If you are using the Mozilla or FireFox web browser, you can toggle Adblock on and off using the documented keystrokes CTRL+SHIFT+B (hold down the CTRL and SHIFT and B keys at the same time).

If you need an e-mail client to receive these 'regular sources', then Adblock has nothing to do with it.

The Firefox Adblock extension is not shipped with new computers. Some common firewall and Internet security products include Adblocking. If you have Symantec Norton Internet Security or Zone Alarm Pro, then your Adblock might be in one of those. You ought to be able to turn off just the ad blocking without disabling the whole package. Hope this helps.

the conext menu in the status bar is the best solution, because whitelisting doesn't work (at least not mine; adblock plus 0.5.10)

Hmmm ....
I also had problems with site.whitelisting with some builds.

Just try, if you have the same problems with 0.5.11.
