The trouble started a couple of days ago. I have a new computer and loaded Firefox with my usual extensions, including Adblock Plus. I also decided to run the AdblockPlus FiltersetG, but after a while I decided I wanted to set my own filters. So I tried to uninstall the filterset and had problems. Got help over at Firefox for how to uninstall that add-on. But now Adblock Plus will not listen when I try to block an ad. The filter shows up in the list, so I know the program hears me. But whatever I've blocked is still there, no matter how many times I try to block it. I've tried restarting Firefox, restarting the computer - nothing.
Does this sound familiar to anybody? Anyone know what I can do to get functionality back with this add-on?

First off: http://adblockplus.org/en/faq_project#filterset.g
Then, it is not enough to uninstall the add-on, you also have to delete the filter group in Adblock Plus preferences - otherwise old filters from Filterset.G will stay there.
Finally, how are you adding rules? Do you right-click an image, select "Adblock Image" and add what you see as a filter?

Yes, that's how I've always done it, and it always worked in the past. At the moment, all the stuff from that filterset is gone, there's only a few filters that I've set myself on there. The problem right now is that each time I open the filter window, it says that Adblock is disabled, but it isn't. At least, when I look in the add-ons list, it's shown as enabled (there's a button to disable it). I keep trying to re-enable it, but no dice. I can't get it to work.

Argh! Thank you so much for your answer. I don't think I ever would have figured it out on my own. *headdesk*
