change icon if adblock is actually blocking content

Post by cyrus »

Hi, I'm often interested if adblock is currently blocking more than 0 elements of a website. To check this I have to move the mouse cursor over the adblock icon and check the tool tip window.

Would it be possible to change the adblock icon if and only if it is really blocking content? My suggestion is:

- Icon grey if adblock is disabled (as it is currently).
- Icon green if adblock is enabled, but not blocking content.
- Icon red if adblock is enabled and blocking content.

Pretty much every site has some ads on it, so that information would be pretty useless. Also, the icon changing constantly would be annoying - and consuming way more CPU time than it is worth. So I don't think this should be done.

Hm, you are really argueing that this would waste cpu cycles? The Information is already there (in the tooltip window) and I think there are many sites without ads, or with ads that users don't filter. Maybe this option could be optional?

Tooltip gets the information on-demand, what you are asking for requires listening to all updates - which will definitely slow you down.
