ABP installed and enabled, but no Stop Sign icon

Post by tracer »

I installed the latest AdBlock Plus a couple of months ago, and when I go to "Manage Add-Ons" in IE 11 it correctly shows as both installed and Enabled. However, the little red "stop sign" icon for ABP does not appear in my status bar, or anywhere else in the IE U.I.. Furthermore, no ads are being blocked.

This issue only occurs in IE 11 on my work PC. On my home PC's copy of IE 11, I do see the little red stop sign, and ads are successfully being blocked. My work PC is behind a firewall maintained by our IT department, but I don't see how that could affect the presence of the red stop sign icon.

- internet options, advanced: see if "enable third-party browser extensions" is checked (enabled)

Looks like it WASN'T checked.
Checking it and re-launching IE worked! Thanks!

Similar problem with ADP in IE 11- no Stop Sign; OS is Windows 7; checked Internet Options/Advanced and external programs is checked. Having to put up with these "acceptable ads" is killing me. Need to wait 30-60 seconds for them to load. Frequently ads will hang-up and crash browser. Have ADP installed for Chrome & Mozilla - both work great, not an ad in sight.

OK I have had it. I have installed and uninstalled Ad Blocker Plus a million times. I have done everything I am supposed to do like enable it and check that darn third party box and enabled the status bar. I still have no icon and I still am having a ton of problems with ads. Especially this one site. I used to not have any problems there until they started showing this one add that has no name and no sound. I have no idea who it is for. It is a flash player ad and it keeps hanging me up and eventually stops me from scrolling. Sometimes IE will crash. I pause them, but they always come back on. It is so frustrating and I am to the point I want to just not go there anymore. What the heck am I supposed to do?

The ad I am talking about doesn't always come up on the log in page. You have to refresh a few times to see it. It has a bridge and the statue of liberty and a butterfly, etc. But why can't I get the icon to come up on internet explorer? I have tried all the things I am supposed to. Some of the ads on photo bucket give me a problem too. Maybe I should just download another browser. :( Thank you for any help you can give me.

if you already tried all the indications from the link above, better install chrome / firefox

for chrome install ABP from: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... cddilifddb
for firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... lock-plus/
