Crashes Here Too?

Post by Lucian2015 »

Hello again.

You can do better.
It crashes a lot for no reason!! And it works slow(load and scroll) even with no ads. :( Not to mention that I can't watch some anime/movies online, stream in general. Some players/sources do not work at all(black screen), until I fully allow ads on that page/site... Sites like "anilinkz.tv" and "crunchyroll.com". On crunchyroll.com there's still ads that just won't go away, even with disabled "allow non-intrusive ads". Including the ones in video playback. Not only that, but in full screen there are no controls and no subtitles either. :|

Did I mention the crashes? Oh the horror...........! :(((

Thank you in advance. I appreciate everything you are doing for all of us!

Samsung Galaxy S5 g900f - 5.0 Lollipop.

EDIT:

"The media playback was aborted due to a corruption problem or because the media used features your browser did not support"... One of the player/source on anilinkz.tv. :(
Can't you use other flash or shockwave players, like Google Chrome does?
Or better(in my view), why not make a partnership with Google, to implement all your cool stuff in Chrome? Because on the PC platform, Google Chrome with ABP extension rocks. So far...
Just an idea, don't need to bite my head off... :|

Hi Lucian2015,

Thanks for your feedback.
About the slowness we hope to optimize the performance soon. Regarding anilinkz.tv I would recommend using Flash videos, but you must install the legacy flash player first. However, installing Flash for Android is not recommended as it’s insecure and may contribute to memory loss and slowness. If you still want to do this, refer to the article (https://support.mozilla.org/kb/how-do-i ... ox-android) from Mozilla.
As for crunchroll, the website does not allow you to watch the videos from the website unless you download their app. Could you still watch their videos from the browser (regardless of the controls or subtitles issues)?
About the crashes, I have added that to our list of issues to investigate.
I look forward to your reply.
All the best,

All the best,
Hello.

Thanks for answering. Yes, on crunchyroll.com I can still watch their videos on site, without installing the app. It works with your browser and Chrome too. Don't know about other browsers. If you continue down to the bottom of the page, there's a link to load the main page "View full site". Maybe it was added recently. But once on it, I can play every video they have, except for premium ones. On normal, I have subtitles and video controls. But on full screen the subs and video controls are gone. And if I try to exit full screen, the browser freezes and crashes.

As for the Flash Player, there is no version that supports higher versions of Android, as far as I know. The latest was 2.3.6. And I have lollipop... I still had some Flash installed, but didn't do anything, because it's not supported.
What makes you think this Legacy version would? Not sure, I might have had Legacy installed...

Thank you for your help.

EDIT:

I installed that shit and uninstalled it just as fast. Every browser I have wasn't able to completely load the pages anymore. It was eating memory fast, maybe bandwidth too.
Ok, let's exclude that app for now. Or just until Adobe wants to make for Android 5.0 and 6.0 too...
If you could make a semi-exception for video ads, not show the ad, but at the same time not block the entire video source. A button to skip the ad and go to the video source. That would be perfect... :)

EDIT 2:

Issues with Facebook... Every time I want to play a video, play a gif or quick open an image, the browser sends me to the source file. It's not right, it should open/play on the same page. Only long presses pops-up the window and you select "open in new tab/window".
When selecting my chronology, it first goes to my start page a couple of times. And when trying to select a portion of a text on a page, it's not working. I can only select the text when posting and editing... Cool, huh?

I know it's still in its beta stages. I'm only trying to help the way I can, by posting issues.

Hello Lucian2015 !

Thank YOU for taking the time to write us about all of that!
With crunchyroll.com I could finally get it in the desktop version, however, I cannot access it unless I have an account there.
Regarding the Flash Player, it does actually support Lollipop (e.g. http://bgr.com/2014/11/21/flash-on-android-how-to/).
Despite this functionality, I have tested the videos on Facebook (with Flash Player and Flashify) and they are indeed crashing.
I have added that to our list of issues to investigate, and hopefully we will be able to fix that soon.
All the best,

All the best,
Hello!

Thank you for your support and your time to write me. Much appreciated!
Did I mention it's slow on some websites? I did. :) But I see something else now, or rather I don't see... I checked the box in the settings for forced zoom. On some sites it's not working, and every time zoom in on a page, the page disappears. You don't need to zoom in to the maximum for this t happen. And to see the page I have to zoom out. Which makes force zoom useless. :( At least for now...

As for the flash player, it may be supported by lollipop, but it's extremely buggy and unstable. You say it works on lollipop, I say it doesn't work at all. I tested it myself. The video players on websites din not change their appearance at all. And the ones that were black screen before, still are with flash installed. But the biggest problem is that it's eating cpu and ram until the phone freezes and crashes. If it doesn't crash, the browsers do. Doesn't matter which one I use. So.....yeah, no flash until they officially make it for lollipop and marshmallow too.

Can I make a request, please? Can you "reverse engineer" Chrome? Why? Because it has something very good stuff in it that you can implement in Adblock Browser. Stuff like: how it loads the pages; how the pages are resized and displayed; selecting text on pages not only when writing and editing a post; and when selecting a text on a page or in the writing box, show the options to search/share/copy/paste/etc. By the way, when writing, the blinking cursor disappears after a few seconds of inactivity...

PS: Almost forgot something important. Where did my History go?? When going to my history tab, I only have few things there. And I should have a full history, since installed the browser. But no, it only shows like the last 5 minutes of browsing...
It could be a cool feature to search for something in the history tab, like Chrome on PC...

PPS: I'm sorry if I drive you crazy with Google Chrome. I like it since they invented it. And every time it got better and better.
Is Adblock Browser is based on Firefox codding by any chance? 'Coz every time I do something, it sends me on the Firefox support page... I'm being honest with you guys, I never liked Mozilla Firefox. I don't like how it displays the pages and how it plays videos, and it's slow. But as a whole/browser, it has every feature most browsers have nowadays.

I'm not a fan of Firefox, but I want to be a fan of Adblock Browser! And if you want to add Firefox' codding, at least add some of Chrome' codding too. This way Adblock Browser would be perfect! Or so I hope... :D

Hope to hear from you guys. If you don't reply today, then I wish you all a wonderful Merry Christmas! All the best! Thank you!

Oh. Sorry for that, I didn't know what was going on. It makes sense now why the post didn't show up immediately. That's to show I'm a newbie on forums...

Chrome doesn't need to be reverse-engineered, because it's based on an open-source project: https://www.chromium.org/developers/how ... structions

Hey,

Thank you for all your hard work!!! All is going well at the moment, I see some visible improvements on Adblock Browser. It's not perfect yet, but I know and I believe that you guys can pull it off. Making it perfect that is. :D
Btw: on the home screen with "Top Sites" visited, they always get replaced by newly visited sites. Why is that? Please make these Top Sites stay there forever and not get replaced unless I want to. Actually, make them like some kind of bookmark, meaning that I can put there my favorite sites that I visit very often. And don't let them get replaced by newly random visited sites. Please? THIS IS ACTUALLY A GOOD IDEA, Top Sites act like Bookmarks...

And can you change the internal flash player with HTML5 player or a player that works on/in every country, every internet provider, every internet connection, etc, with a fast buffering/loading. The current one is still hard to use/play. And it's user interface is bad as well, sorry... :( At least the browser doesn't crash that often now. :)

You guys will make it perfect, I have faith in you! It can even surpass Chrome and Firefox! But please listen to our feedback too, we are trying to help you get there. :)

Thank you!

EDIT:

Actually you DID "something" to the flash player. It behaves better now. Awesome guys, thank you so much! <3

Hey Lucian2015!

Thank YOU for supporting us.
The "Top Sites" should be the most visited sites, not the newly visited. We could try doing some tests here from our end. What is the device you have and Android version?
In any case, I have added your suggestion to our list of improvements.
We are aware of the flash player issue and we are working on it and hopefully make it better and better.
Could you give us more details about the UI where you think it is bad!? Anything specific?

Glad to hear you have faith in us :) We are certainly listening to the feedback we get from our users.

Hey, thanks for answering.

Like my first post, I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S5 g900f - 5.0 Lollipop.
Well, the UI issues I had were like this: 1 after a few seconds the player exits full screen on its own. 2 some times the screen would "flicker/blink" while in full screen mode. 3 there is an issue where the player will not go into full screen mode, and when it does, it is not in complete full screen, there is like 1cm band on the right side of the screen that I can see the android's desktop... And there is the low buffer issue, but it's not UI related.

That's pretty much it, thank you.

PS: I don't know if it's an actual issue or not, but the address bar in Adblock Browser looks "interupted"... How the hell do I upload an image from my phone on this forum? :((

PPS: Another cool thing would be, when you go full screen with players, the clips should auto-lock in landscape view. Like when you run a game. At least I like it like that...
