KLIF Radio Station/Streaming Audio Problem

Post by monicakm1 »

I've not been able to listen to streaming audio on www.klif.com . I've been working with their technical support to no avail. I HAVE disabled ABP (and restarted FF) but that didn't help. Tech support installed the latest version (I updated as well) and wasn't able to listen to the streaming audio till he disabled ABP and then was able to listen. Any advice?

Everything seems to work fine with the Easylist trio of subscriptions.

Depending on who's subscription(s) you are using, there may be problems with strings that have *banner* variations in them. Oddly enough, none of those 'hit' on my filters and everything is ok.

Who's subscription(s) are you using, I'm sure whoever's it is will fix it for you here (unless it's Filterset.g)

I didn't realize I had responses to my question! Guess I thought I'd be notified by email. I really don't know the workings of this fine program. I opened it and went to options, scrolled to "filter subscription" and it says "EasyList". Last updated Oct 14th. Below that says, it says
Rick752's EASYLIST for Adblock Plus 0.7.1+
If there is another "subscription" I can load to possibly help this matter, would someone mind telling me how to do this?
Thank you,
Monica

This is not an EasyList problem. That site plays fine with all 3 EasyList subscriptions engaged there.

Check to make sure that you did not add anything of your own. They would show up under "Adverisement filters" or "Element hiding rules". If you do not see those categories anywhere, then you didn't add anything extra ... if you DO see those, they are YOUR filters.

You could add a whitelist for that site to see if it fixes it:

Code: Select all

ps: Is the EasyList the ONLY subscription?

rick, I do have "advertisement filter". Below is what's listed under it:
http://*.adserver.example.com/*
*/adbanner/*
*/advertisements/*

There is no Element Hiding Rule.
I've deleted the above lines, will reboot and see if that makes a difference.
Thanks,
Monica

Some more information in the Error Console of FF.
Several of these:

and one of these:
Error: inStation is not defined

removing the entries below advertisement filter, restarting FF, didn't help.
I found this warning under FF's Error Console:
Error for parsing value for propterty "cursor". Declaration dropped.

Line 531

That site is totally screwed up

Even with ABP disabled, it is a mess! Eventhing looks all screwed up there and nothing is being blocked with my subscriptions except "advertising.com' (which doesn't seem to be a factor). Most of the player visuals are background images. That site is just designed very badly.

I CAN get the audio fine after a little bit after that annoying intro. I'm not sure why you can't hear it.

Anyone else want to take a crack at this one?

Are you using the 'NoScript' extension or have your javascript turned off by any chance?

The stream will not work without javascript allowed

Enable JavaScript and Enable Java are both on. I forgot to mention in my original post, that I can listen to streaming audio from other sites. I've even bookmarked a radio station that broadcasts the show I want to listen to...I'd would much rather listen to it on a local (Dallas) station.

Works fine here, audio plays and everything, and I agree the code is a complete mess (looks like it was made in the late 90's and was never upgraded). With the script errors that the OP posted then I'm thinking it could be a cache issue (Tools, Clear Private Data), another addon messing with scripts, or a missing script engine dependency (Install everything from WindowsUpdate.com).

Is does look like it's more of an issue with the OP's computer rather than the site/subscriptions itself.
