Can't Figure It Out -- No Instructions

Post by reader4 »

:?: I have used ABP on all my desktop browsers for several years. I recently got an Android smartphone. I got the Opera browser. When I tried to install ABP, it told me I needed to download the Adblock Browser for Android instead. I did, and I can't figure out how it works.

How do I get to the Home Page, i.e. where Top Sites, Bookmarks, etc., are listed at the top, from a web page I am browsing?

Is Top Sites the equivalent of Opera's Speed Dial? Or is that Bookmarks?

What do the icons in the Menu mean? I have figured out the left and right arrow, and the star, but what do the other ones do?

An icon that takes me to "Change Messaging App" appeared in the Menu between the icons at the top and New Tab. How did it get there? Now do I get rid of it?

All these kinds of questions should be answered by a User's Manual, but the FAQ in the browser seems more related to the desktop app. There is nothing that just explains the basic operation and features of the browser.

Hi. We based Adblock Browser for Android on Firefox mobile, so most of the browser UI is the same: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/products/mobile

I'm a complete newbie, so your answer to the last person doesn't help me. I don't find any instructions. When I open the app, I get a screen with ABP and some blank squares. I tried entering one of my apps (todoist) into one of the squares, but all it did was a duck duck go search for the app. I assume I have to activate the browser, or add my apps into a "filter list" or something. I find no directions at all as to what I'm supposed to do. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

The Adblock Browser does not filter ads in other apps; that's what Adblock Plus for Android was for, but it didn't work well (because it had none of the browser APIs that ABP relies on) and that's why the Adblock Browser was developed.
There's a buzzin' in my brain I really can't explain; I think about it before they make me go to bed.
