unblocking Yahoo

Post by Dude »

OK. I'm not too much up on this stuff, and I have tried for the past hour to figger out how to be able to read my Yahoo mail. I even did a couple of searches of this forum. The header comes up the am unable to read the text, in any of my emails. I used to be able to; my Hotmail still works. I want to continue to block the junk, but need to be able to read the text. There must be a simple fix, rite? I know I need to go to options or ? and type in something to allow yahoo.mail.com. Will someone explain to me how. Or is this being caused by NoScript? Thanks much!

BTW, I just looked and Yahoo.com is on my allowed list for NoScript. I have tried to find the exact address line for my email (I saw them earlier, there were bunches of them) but now unable to find them.

It could be.
Noscript needs two whitelist entries for Yahoo mail.
The first one is yahoo.com so you alreay have that one.
The second is yimg.com. Both of these are whitelisted by default in noscript so Noscript should not be the issue, unless you have removed those whitelist entries before.

If Adblock Plus is causing this it should be possible to check.
Go open one of your mails. Then open the Blockable Items list you see here: http://adblockplus.org/en/tips?tip=effective_filter
Either by left clicking the toolbar icon or pressing ctrl+shift+B.
You should have 4 columns showing, the one called Filter is the one showing you which ABP filters are currently in effect.

You can then try to disable them one by one. Just doubleclick on a filter shown to be in effect, then you should have a window popup and automatically focus on the filter you doubleclicked. Then you click on the green button like in the this picture: http://adblockplus.org/en/tips?tip=subs ... ove_filter
Afterwards you click OK, and reload the the yahoo tab to see if the mail is visible.

Once you are done and found the filter causing this trouble, you can go to the window with the green buttons and delete it by right click and choose delete. Be sure to enable all the other filters you might have disabled, this is done the same way as when you disable a filter.
