adblock fail

Post by osammyboy »

I started using Adblock Plus a few months ago and was delighted. Yesterday I noticed the icon no longer appeared on my screen and it seemed to have stopped working. I reinstalled the programme twice without success. It no longer works which on a particular website I use every day is very frustrating.
Can I do anything to get it working again?

You could try resetting internet explorer:
http://malwaretips.com/blogs/reset-inte ... -settings/

then reinstall ABP
try installing this version:
https://downloads.adblockplus.org/devbu ... .2.715.exe

Sorry mapx Did as you suggested plus running a number of malware programs but no joy.
Any more suggestions? Any reason why the icon doesn't appear at the bottom each page
like it did before?

I said to reset your IE !
then to install that version 1.2.715 (first uninstall the version you have now)
Did you follow those steps ?

what do you mean ?

so, you installed ABP, did you then verify in control panel (programs and features) if ABP is there, installed ?

I installed ADP. Listed in Control Panel. No effect on ads.

I have now uninstalled ADP.Opened Google Chrome. ADP icon appears with legend ADP enabled for this site and no ads.
I will now do a System Restore and start again on IE

There is no connection between ABP for IE and chrome.
If you already reset IE, see if you already installed all the updates for IE.
You could also uninstall java from your system, and all other addons you can see in IE.
