Permanently Grey Out Youtube's Autoplay Button Element

Post by Vuori »

I'm surprised I hadn't thought of this as being something I could perhaps block by now, but I would love to know if there's a custom filter to make the autoplay button permanently set to off, instead of having to turn it off every single time you want to open a video in a seperate windowf. It was fine earlier on this year: once you set it, your session would remember it, but now, YT has for some reason decreed it best to be turned on automatically, and also tends to turn itself on x2 when you go fullscreen, and you don't even realise it's done it until the video's other, and it's playing the next video, despite whether you wanted to or not (and it's usually playing a video before that you've seen, and it's just insanely irritating). It's sad, yet agan, that it's just some bug/glitch they aren't bothering to fix... but it's been about 6 months, I swear.

Here's a side-by-side screenshot for what I mean when I say 'grey out'.

Thanks again.

P.S. I'm OK with making both the autoplay icon and shuffle icon elements disappear if that's possible.

P.S.S.

Is there a way to make 'My Subscriptions' the default landing page (like it used to be!) when you sign in or redirect to Youtube when you come away from it.
I'm sick of that 'What to Watch' landing page of viral media spam. I wish they'd do away with it or give you the choice, but no... can't have that, can we.

Adblock Plus doesn't modify web pages. The best it could do is hide the Autoplay button, which would only prevent you from disabling autoplay manually.

You need either a user script (applied with Tampermonkey), or a specialized extension.

YouTube Center also provides fine-grained control of autoplay: You can have different settings for playlist vs. single-video and also for video-page vs. channel-page vs. video-embed (6 in all).

Now that Chrome Stable on Windows doesn't allow installation of extensions from outside the Web Store, you'll need to get TamperMonkey and install the UserScript: https://github.com/YePpHa/YouTubeCenter ... er-Version
There's a buzzin' in my brain I really can't explain; I think about it before they make me go to bed.

Earnest thanks, Gingerbread Man and lewisje, for greasing my gears with all these scripts!! I use Firefox, so I got myself Greasemonkey.
I had previously heard of it (many, many years ago), but I was never really aware of what it could DO!

Thanks again. Great help, the pair of you.
