I was adding some blocks on ads using AdBlock Plus on certain website (instagram), and then noticed the red highlighted ads popping up on most websites. I am puzzled and wondered what happened. It happened on Google Chrome and also Microsoft Edge.

Strange red Highlighted Ads
Re: Strange red Highlighted Ads
It has gotten worse now. Its everywhere. Hard for me to enjoy browsing internet. Red highlighted ads is very intrusive and distracting. Has anyone experiencing this?
I am planning to do Windows 11 factory resetting to see if that will clear off the problem.

Re: Strange red Highlighted Ads
Same problem. And this just happend to me after an upgrade to premium.

Re: Strange red Highlighted Ads
So sad. Googe Chrome is a nightmare now. I did the WIndows 11 factory setting (uninstall then reinstall Windows). Problems disappeared and I am using Microsoft Edge now. I don't see red highlighted ads anymore. I cannot or won't use the AdBlock "block element" button anymore. Hope it stays that way!
Re: Strange red Highlighted Ads
Did you enable the "Turn on debug element hiding filters mode" in the Advanced tab of the settings page?
That mode is supposed to help users see which elements Adblock Plus usually hides. It does that by highlighting them in a similar manner as shown on the screenhots you posted.

Re: Strange red Highlighted Ads
Thanks for replying, Greiner. Yes, I did enabled that. The box for "Turn on debug element hiding filters mode" was checked or enabled. Maybe I was confused by the question. I didn't want to see the highlighted ads. Its very distracting. Was I supposed to disable (uncheck) that box?
EDITED = Wow! after I posted this above message. I checked the AdBlock Plus setting. It was at first "unchecked". I decided to enable the "Turn on debug element hiding filters mode". So that box for it was 'checked'.
Then I went on Accweather.com to check the weather for Phoenix, AZ weather (duststorm heading my home area). Loads of highlighted ads was back. Disappointed. Went back to setting and and disable the "Turn on debug element hiding filters mode".
Much better! No more highlighted ads. I get it now. Thanks for clarifying this for me.

Re: Strange red Highlighted Ads
Yeah, I have realized it now. Nice way of showing where Adblock Plus are blocking ads by showing red highlights. I disabled that. LOL. Thanks for explaining this.
Re: Strange red Highlighted Ads
You should disable all other browser extensions and enable AdBlock Plus one extension at a time to identify the pokedoku conflicting extension to fix this problem.
