Adblock Plus

Hi,

I am a developer and I'm trying to use the subscription link feature to make it easier for users to whitelist my site. The behavior on how and why this works, however, completely eludes me and I have no idea why.

When I generate a link directly from the link factor (https://adblockplus.org/abp_linkfactory) I can easily click on the site and use the feature. However, when I try to embed this link into content on my site, I am unable to. Here's a simple example to illustrate the issue: https://givedonera.org/testing.html. I've also noticed that simply copying and pasting the link into a search bar gives an ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED error (for example, pasting "https://subscribe.adblockplus.org?locat ... tle=Donera" into a searchbar).

Why is this happening? Is there something I am missing about the setup? Please help.

We restricted the use of those links to only certain trusted domains in Adblock Plus 3.10 (see release notes), because we've seen abuse by some websites that tricked their visitors into unblocking things that users weren't expecting.

You can find the list of trusted sites that we currently use in Adblock Plus 3.13 in the extension code.

We're open for exploring alternative solutions, so that we can offer this feature again to everyone, but need to keep restricting access to it this way for the time being.
