[Antisocial] Facebook frame

Post by Marijo »

Hi Hubird! :)

On http://www.bing.com/, there is an FB frame:

Code: Select all

http://www.facebook.com/extern/login_status.php
I haven't noticed any anomalies by blocking it with

Code: Select all

||facebook.com/extern/login_status.php?
Regards,

When I visit Bing (or search using it) I do not see any Facebook frame.

I know some sites use Facebook for posting comments and such (which I try not to block)... Not sure what it would be used for in Bing... Any ideas ?

If I did add a filter to block it I would want to start off by making it site specific and going from there.

You mean "http://www.facebook.com/extern/login_status.php?..." doesn't appear in your list of blockable items? That might me country-specific. If you switch to US, it should appear. Then you'll also notice the "Connect to FB" link when you click on "Sign in". Even with the frame blocked, the log-in appears to work.

Edit: Another example: http://www.joblo.com/movie-news/ --> should be independent of any language setting

Ok...

We'll see how

Code: Select all

||facebook.com/extern/login_status.php?$third-party
Goes.

Remove $third-party from the rule.

Probably not needed.

Yep, that script is only used by the FB Like/Fan buttons. Logins on FB itself are handled differently.
We'll see if this backfires. People get very vocal when something doesn't work as expected. :D
