selectively block a site

Greetings and my first post here.

Ad block may be a life saver for my tortured eyes.

*But* I had to uninstall Adblock after the first site I used prevented me from using my login. Specifically I want to ad block the home page of a newspaper but be able to use my login as a regular commenter to letters, editorials etc. which tabs are accessed from the main or home page.

I have used the filter option only crudely but need to be much more selective. It seems the job of blocking ads could be endless.

The features of ad block are overwhelming (to me anyway). How can I get around paper-printing a whole manual? Is there a printed text on Ad Block?

The documentation for Adblock Plus is located at en/documentation; en/getting_started#problems is probably most relevant to your situation. The issue you have mentionned appears to indicate that you have had problems on a Gannett newspaper website. The necessary whitelists are as follows:

Well I guess things are back to normal.

My message was about how did Michael know it was the Gannett newspaper? They are not unique
in having busy animated pages.

I have to learn to use this but I can't lose the functionality to communicate, login etc with these places. I don't know the terminology regards what kind of code can or cannot be blocked. Above I don't know what that piece of code is or where it goes. I will read the getting started.

After that I'm going to get a piece of cardboard for the favored right hand part of the screen where all the rubbish is playing.

Ok. I don't know what to do with the list yet if I had it though.

Just now my friend was telling me about the program No Script. How does that fit in, if at all, with Ad Block usage?

I have just been coasting on this issue and never much confronting the ad problem til now.

Using noscript will still cause the same issues, as it'll be blocking the same javascript files adblock plus blocks, unless you whitelist the same scripts in noscript for every gannett cms site.

Well one thing at a time then. I read the intro. It is very nicely laid out but I worry about everything I have getting screwed up. So can we just concentrate on Gannett? The local Gannett paper was the first thing I tried to get blocked.

Does the subscription to Gannett that was linked at Ad Block interfere with their login script for me-- the routine that says greetings loninappleton (which means I can post remarks online?) That was where I noticed the problem with Ad Block running.
