adblock no longer blocking itvplayer ads

Post by guest7 »

Hello,

Hoping someone here might have a fix. Ads on Itvplayer, previously skipped over when using FF and Adblock Plus, now playing. Any help or suggestions?

Thank you in advance

I live in Australia, the site seems to be hosted in Australia but the video I tested would not work in my region.

EDIT:

A link is always helpful too

I have tried using the site with EasyList and EasyPrivacy enabled and have found that the videos display without problems and without adverts. What is the name of the subscription that you are using?

Thank you very much for the replies.

Do excuse the lack of a link, poor form on my part. I think I also need to do a bit more research on the topic, based on the second reply, as I am not even familiar with what EasyList is nor what the reference to "my subscription" might be. I am using FireFox and the most recent update of Adblock Plus.

My apologies. I'll see if I can find out some more information.

I have now installed/added EasyList and EasyPrivacy, and I'm very pleased to say that Adblock Plus on Fire Fox is again skipping the ads on Itv Player.

Thank you all, very much for your help, especially so as I was obviously not as clear about the issue as I might have been.

Cheers.

Adblock plus by it self blocks nothing, you need a filter to tell it what to block before it can do anything. To do this you wither make your own rules (not recommended and it would be very tedious) or use a subscription (an ad black list) which is the easiest way.

Once you have subscribed to a filter subscription most of the ads should be gone.

I use Fanboy's list and Michael made reference to EasyList (They are both general English subscriptions). You can get a full list from en/subscriptions as you might wanton e for a language other than English.

You should avoid subscribing to any more subscriptions than you need as you will just be doubling up unnecessarily which has the potential cause problems such as slow down your browsing and it increases your risk of something being blocked that should not be.
