Get the Element Hiding Helper for adblock (it's a separate extension). It allows you to select elements on a page to block them.

Sorry, mistook it for the filter rule creation tool.
Any way to block the content instead of just hiding it, and to remove the empty space?

Not all the elements can be blocked (when are part of the page) . For the empty space see other extensions like stylish.
