[EasyList Germany] ABP is too restrict

Post by Busty »

I like ABP - it is one of the best, maybe even the very best Firefox Addon, I've ever seen.

But since a while I have some trouble with several websites...

e.g. on http://www.focus.de/wissen/wissenschaft ... 28112.html the embedded flash is not working, if ABP is active.

I think ABP should be a litte less restrictive.

Maybe this will help: http://adblockplus.org/de/getting_start ... -positives

PS: Quick testing revealed that the problem is caused by the filter "?popupurl=" in EasyList Germany. Well, Ares2 will surely see this topic and fix the issue.

Hello Wladimir, I found another filter, which had a bad influence on a website:

The standard ABP filter (does not belong to any list) /[^\w=+]promo(\w*\.js|banner|box)(?!(\.js)?\?)(\W|_|$)/ kills the promo.js script on http://www.mupromo.com/.

I did add an exception, but wanted to let you know about this...

ABP does not come with any filters. That filter look like it may have been left over from from filterset G.

It is recommended not to use filterset G.

I think it will be listed under "My Ad Blocking Rules". If you have not created any of your own adblocking rules then it should be safe to delete everything under this heading.

Hello Hubird, you are right!

At the very beginning of ABP I had to install another filterset extension. Somehow it did not really work well (lot's of ads weren't blocked), so I deactivated these extensions.

Later I tried ABP again - and it worked pretty well.
So I uninstalled the filterset extension.

Thank you for this hint! :)
