It seems I can only block individual images on sites I haven't whitelisted?

Why can't I whitelist a site & then choose if I want to block a certain image?

Yes, this makes sense to me. If you whitelisted an entire site, blocking/hiding rules should not apply.

Try to see the perspective from the other side. If there ever comes a situation where you do not want any filters applied on a certain site, what would you do without this feature?

There's a trick you can try: Add this code to the end of your whitelist filter.
This will remove the site whitelist, and you should be able to block individual images on the site.

Note, you still won't be able to block the image if the url of the images matches a whitelist you made.
If this happens, then your whitelist is simply too aggressive. In that case I would advice you to either delete the whitelist, or at lest edit it.
