Facebook seems to have found a way around ABP

Post by Good_Will »

Love this application, but as usual I never bothered to say thanks or donate or suchlike.

Human nature, I suppose. But sorry.

Anyway, the reason that I'm here is that I am using Firefox 3.0.6 with your add-on and it was working perfectly until yesterday (or the day before, depending on which timezone you live in).

Then all of a sudden I was browsing Facebook and the adverts started appearing after months of successfully being blocked. :(

I can manually filter most of them out, but

http://apps.facebook.com/advertising/?src=advf2

just won't go away.

It's no biggie, but I thought you would like to know.

Cheers, Will

Which filter subscription are you using? See http://adblockplus.org/en/getting_started#subscription

I'm not using a filter list apart from Dr Evil's which must have come with the installation, but just the tools that come with ABP (Add Filter).

For some reason it works with the ads near the top of the page, but not the ones on the right hand side. (see link above)

Is that enough info?

If not then I'll be happy to provide whatever info you need.

Thanks for helping. :)

Cheers, Will

Dr. Evil changed his filterset on Sunday. It is a new list which blocks all ads but text ads. If you understand German, you can read all necessary information here.

I don't see any ads there with the EasyList on Facebook (am I not looking in the right places?)

Sorry for not being more specific. You have to look at somebody's profile. There will be anywhere from a couple to maybe 5 ads or so on the right of their profile.

Thanks.

New Facebook Layout

Post by ewick12 »

There is now a new Facebook layout and I can now see some ads. :-(

Does anyone know how to block the ads on the right of the screen? They integrate them with the other events.

I really appreciate any help! Adblock Plus is a godsend.

If you are using the EasyList, I think I have those now. Here the right-side ads seem to be removed. I don't see any atm.

Make sure you update the subscription first.

Hello,

I'm using the latest version of easylist (updated less that 10 minutes ago) and ads are still showing up beside my profile.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I can't figure out what. I only see ads on facebook...

Thanks

EDIT: talked to a friend of mine who also uses easylist. He's got no ads on facebook. we're using the same version of Easylist and ABP.

Element hider fixed the problem for me.

I had to use the Element Hiding Helper and add the following filters:

facebook.com#SPAN(class=sponsored)

facebook.com#DIV(id=home_sponsor_nile)
