Adblock Plus locks up my computer

Hi, when I try to open a webpage for a newspaper site, Adblock Plus opens as if it's looking for ads. Then it goes nonstop, hitting the 1,000+ mark for ads, which is impossible. It doesn't stop, and in the process locks up my computer so I can't open any other pages. They're frozen.

The only way to stop Adblock Plus is to quit Chrome and remove Adblock Plus, which then ushers in all the ads.

The one newspaper site is the only page this happens with. No others.

Things were fine until about a week and a half ago. I called the newspaper site in question. They couldn't understand it. They say their site is formatted for Chrome.

The webpage in question is the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. postgazette.com

This happens with Adblock Plus Version: 1.8.12.

Not sure about the filter. But as I said, up until about a week and a half ago, there were no problems. Post-Gazette folks told me they hadn't changed anything.

to add custom filters: click ABP icon, options, "add your own filters" tab, add the filters 1 by 1 (or "Edit filters as raw text" and add both filters, apply changes)

Thanks, tried your suggestion for the filters, and appreciate the code After I entered each one at a time, I thought I closed the page. But when I went to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette website, the same thing happened again. Up to 9,000 "ads" registered on Adblock Plus. It would eventually start at 1,000 after that and then calm down to about 7.

But every time I went into another section of the site, say "Business", it would start all over again. I gave up again and uninstalled the AdBlock Plus.

I'm thinking maybe I didn't follow the instructions correctly to enter your filters? I'm not sure the page closed properly for my filter changes to take effect.

and see if the filters are there

anyway, the easylist authors added at least the first filter to easyprivacy so you can also update manually your lists
