I am running Firefox 37.0.1 under Windows 7 on a Lenovo E-545. I have run all the Malware removal scanning programs listed on the mozilla support page entitled "Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware". Typically the ads move from left to right across the screen with 4 or 5 visible at a time. Each ad has a price at the top and a vendor logo at the bottom such as Target, Petco, Midway, Office Depot etc. Sometimes there is a little tab at the bottom right of the banner. Once I clicked on it and got a popup entitled "Offers4U - Legal, terms of service". I didn't see anything there about how to unsubscribe. When I ran a search on "Offers4U" I got a bunch of ads but no results.
Today I installed Adblock Plus and the problem is still there. Here is a link to my trouble report: https://reports.adblockplus.org/90adea2 ... 832ec50adf
I did uncheck the box which allows "unobtrusive" ads but that didn't block the ones I am seeing
Banner Ads not being blocked
Re: Banner Ads not being blocked
I have followed the suggested steps not long after seeing your post but have continued to see ads up until 7/20/15. (about a week ago). At the time I kept seeing my default search engine in firefox getting changed to "connect search". That was accompanied with the "fast connect" logo. Fast connect is a program to remember your user names and passwords for various websites and enable you to login just by selecting the website and entering a 4 digit pin. It was supplied to me by Comcast, I think in 2014. When I activated my E545 in September 2014 I probably downloaded it from Comcast at that time. I no longer have that Comcast account but the Fast Connect continued to work so I left it on my computer.
On 7/20/15, after seeing the search engine problem I uninstalled fast connect. Since then I haven't seen any banner ads, nor any search engine changes.
