Videos Have Suddenly Stopped Playing On yahoo.com

All videos on yahoo.com have stopped playing with adblock enabled, other sites play fine.
Adblock Plus 2.6.9 (filters updated yesterday and today)
Firefox 37.0.1
Windows 7 Pro & Ultimate (64bit)

Problem appeared yesterday, 4-14-15. Is happening on both PC's in the house. Disable adblock and videos play fine. Been using adblock without issues for over a year. Already manually updated filters, disabled any custom filters I had defined. Adblock is the only extension loaded in firefox.

-Videos that don't autoplay load with the image and play button visible, but nothing happens when the play button is clicked.
-Videos meant to autoplay load a blank (black) video player window with the player's controls visible but video never starts.
-Disable adblock and both scenarios described disappear - videos play fine with their blasted little commercial snippets.

Problem report submitted yesterday. Wondering if yahoo perhaps made some fundamental change to cause this new behavior.

You forget after using adblock for awhile how indispensable it is nowadays. The plethora of flashing adds make even simple news articles distracting to read, not to mention those dam lead-in little commercial clips in videos. Driving me nuts

Novice here and experiencing the same video blocking issue with Yahoo News. How do I add the listed custom filter in Firefox?

click abp icon, filter preferences, "custom filters" tab, if you dont see any filters group create 1, then paste the filters above in the right panel (if you dont see the panel drag the vertical pointed line on the right to the left)

Thank you SO much for the extremely prompt and helpful response. The additional window to add custom filters was hidden and after following your instructions, I was able to unhide it and insert the custom filter. Thanks again!

Hi,

I am also stuck with this issue. Turning off abp allows the video to play, but also the ad before. Adding the filter @@||adserver.yahoo.com$xmlhttprequest as a custom filter has not resolved the issue for me. Tried a fresh Firefox install too and no joy.

Any help will be much appreciated!

-update your lists
-remove any custom filters for yahoo (the filter above isn't necessary anymore)
-disable all other addons, keep only ABP
-test this video

Thank you kindly for the info.

It half worked initially. I updated my filters, removed the custom one I added from here, and I only have ABP added. The clip in the link played.

Afterward on the Yahoo home page, when clicking on a video link on the scroll along links part none of them played. However other sections of Yahoo like, News, Sport, Lifestyle etc, the videos all played. I pinpointed my issue to just the Yahoo 'Screen' sub category. ie https://uk.screen.yahoo.com/instant-kar ... 11685.html ,which ever video link I click on, from that screen/link, does not play with ABP enabled (*). Disabling results in the video playing but with ads.

I also just tried this on my laptop running Win 7 linux with firefox, ABP with no filters at all and got the same issue on the 'screen' section of Yahoo. So I looked at my settings and saw I only had easylist added but it was out of date. Once updated the 'screen' section videos worked! (*)Back on my main PC I removed all my standard filters, Easylist, Fanboys list, malware and popup blocker and just added the updated easylist filter. Voila' ;0)
