Hi, i enjoy using ABP but i find it frustrating that some pictures are getting blocked on sites like
http://lifehacker.com/
and
http://www.lifehack.org/
not all but some, after reloading i sometimes get picture
i must say when i disable adblock plus i don't get the problem, neither when i use IE7, so it must me an adblockplus or filter problem, my only filters are the ones advised: easylist, easyelement and Rick752 tracking filter
how can i have the pictures to be seen without disabling ABP on the whole site and without needing to reload the site
thanks in advance

Can you two please post a url where this happens? I don't see anything where this is happening on EITHER of those site's home pages (maybe I'm missing something?)
The big photo on trouw.nl is the one at the top in the first column? ... it seems to be fine here.
images sometimes don't show with ABP and easylist / easyelem

well
the point is, when i reload the page or when is click the link (it actually shows the picture), but is is after i click the topic like in lifehacker.com
and when i disable ABP the problem is gone,
below are what i see without disabling ABP or without the topic or without reloading the page
www.trouw.nl
www.lifehacker.com

not seeing any lifehacker issues, but to cleanup the white space on trouw.nl,
Code: Select all
trouw.nl#DIV(id=rectangle_banner_wrapper)
trouw.nl#DIV(class=readmore)

I can tell you right now that the empty "pixily.png" box in the second screenshot is NOT an ABP problem at all.
ABP does not keep an image placeholder with the image's filename where an image is blocked. At both of those domains, all images are showing just fine for me.
I believe there is a problem there unrelated to ABP .... or possibly a conflict between ABP and something else? It also could be a server problem on that domain ... I've had this happen on my own website twice before where the sub-requests were sporadic and incomplete after each reload. See if clearing you cache helps.

The only thing that I can say is that if those items were actually blocked, they would ALWAYS be blocked. Reloading the site wouldn't make them appear again.
I'm at a loss ....

No offence but I have to suspect that you haven't tested this thoroughly enough.
Can you disable ABP for a few hours?
Try to browse around for a few hours with ABP disabled to see if this isn't an issue with you internet connection, because I think you have some issues with your internet connection.

thanks everybody for the input,
my question is this i use spywareblaster and spybot search and destroy, can it be that one of those is blocking the pictures, if so should i deinstall the program. is there actually need of such a antispyware program when i use firefox 3.0.1?
I use AVG 8.0 antivirus
and i use windows firewall (XPSP3)
could one of those make loading the picture a problem?

Yes. The chances of drive-by download are pretty low with Firefox but you might still download a spyware program thinking it is a legitimate one.

I kind of figured out that AVG 8.0 Antivirus webshield part was blocking the pictures, but disabling it is no good protection against virusses so what to do?

Hi,
I too have had this very annoying problem with ABP filters blocking far too much content such as images and even whole articles on lifehacker.com.au, the content was allowed when ABP was disabled for the entire website and the pages were reloaded.
I was using Fanboys Ultimate List and decided to remove that subscription and try Easy List, but the same thing occurred again. I have found that there are a few adblocking filters which were causing my problems.
I have had to add exception rules for the following:
@@||bs.serving-sys.com/BurstingPipe/*
@@||ds.serving-sys.com/BurstingCachedScripts/*
@@||network.alluremedia.com.au/network/www/delivery/*
There may be other exception rules you may need to create in order for all content on lifehacker.com.au to be viewed correctly, So if you still dont see everything click on your ABP toolbar button, select Open Blockable Items and take a long hard look at what is blocked and then create a few more exception rules
