Default filters?

Post by meridianigusev »

I know that ABP is designed to be an empty, filter-capable tool into which you place instructions. Out-of-box I assume it's not going to presumptuously block anything specific. Or does it? Do any basic filters come pre-installed? Say, for certain obvious page elements with classes like "ad" or "advert," or what not?

No none are preinstalled, but the first time you launch Firefox (or other compatible Adblock Plus browser) after installing Adblock Plus the first time it will bring up a list of subscriptions that are recommended to chose from. Or you can go to Adblock Plus Preferences and chose add filter subscription under filters and get the same list to chose from.

It would just create false-positives. Moreover, advertisers would avoid using such urls, which would make those filters worthless.

Stay moving.
