Questions about filter "shortcut"

Post by judy »

Hi,

I have just read the FAQ "How does Adblock Plus process its filters and which filters are faster?".

Well, I still not understand clearly. Could you plz simply answer my following questions "Yes" or "No", thanks.

1 something*advertisement
is this a SLOW filter?

2 something*/ad/
and this?

3 abc*/ad/
It is, I think.

4 /advertisement/*
It isn't, yeah?

Thanks :-)

Fast

note:
This one would have been slow.
abc*defg*/ad/*hijk*lmn
This one slow as well.

There is good news. In the next version of ABP, you will be notified of whether a filter is fast or slow when you create it. (Feature is available for testing in development builds section)

Note that the current development build (future Adblock Plus 0.8) will show you which filters are slow - these will have an exclamation mark next to them in the filter list (currently that exclamation mark is only shown for regular expressions).
