They've changed it - just right-click on an image, click 'block image' and take it from the image url; now it's

Code: Select all

It looks like Yavli ads are no longer hosted on third party domains. Instead the client actually has to embed Yavli script directly into the source of the webpage and host the images themselves.

Is there any way that ABP can even block this other than an a revolving door of filters?

My latest sites re "Promoted Content From The Web" ads

Post by MichaelIsGreat »

As of 10/02/2015, here is my latest update list of sites that I have to block the malicious and very annoying "Promoted Content From The Web" ads. As you can see with my previous posts on this particular post as Michael123 and then as MichaelIsGreat, this list has increased significantly but it should cover most links that need to be blocked.
Unfortunately, what is very clear with this type of ads is that this list will continue to grow over time, as they create new sites continually I could say.
1) "Promoted Content From the Web" ads custom filter used with AdBlock Plus:
||iunbrudy.net^
||topdi.net^
||boomsbeat.com^
||chiuawa.net^
||contentolyze.net^
||fuandarst.com^
||anomiely.com^
||polawrg.com^
||simusangr.com^
||jusukrs.com^
||xylopologyn.com^
||yuasaghn.com^
||wensdteuy.com^
||spereminf.com^
||frevi.net^
||spoa-soard.com^
||gotraffic.net^
||lia-ndr.com^
||a.batarsur.com^
||batarsur.com^
||deuskex.link^
||aaa.deuskex.link^
||buatongz.net^
##[class$="_image_holder"]
##[class$="_label_box"]
##[class*="mdeyheadline_"]

I also have created two separate custom filters in AdBlock Plus that surely could be added with this list above but that I have created separately, they have the following links:
2) Taboola ads custom filter used with AdBlock Plus:
||taboola.com^
||images.taboola.com^
||taboolasyndication.com^$third-party

3) Outbrain ads custom filter used with AdBlock Plus:
||outbrain.com^
||outbrain.com^$third-party

These are the three custom filters that I currently use and have with AdBlock Plus.

The subscription lists that I currently use with AdBlock Plus and that I got at en/subscriptions are the following ones:
---EasyList
---EasyPrivacy
---Adblock Warning Removal List
---Malware Domains.
That is it.

---Concerning adding the "Fanboy's Annoyances" subscription list, I will not be using it because it blocks too many things that I do not want to block and that are not ads per se.
---Concerning using ##[class^="__hinit __"] , I cannot use it because I have no clues whatsoever what it blocks and what it does not block!! As the idea is to block things I do not want to see (ads) but NOT to block various things that are not ads but that are parts of the Internet experience.
---The following three are extremely powerful and useful to use:
##[class$="_image_holder"]
##[class$="_label_box"]
##[class*="mdeyheadline_"]

##[class^="__hinit __"] is no longer useful as they changed their code. Instead you can use the other 3 hiding filters (and for now you don't need any other blocking rule for all those domains)

Can someone check how Yavli serves ads on mobile websites?

I see Yavli ads on mobile at http://www.unilad.co.uk/articles/bearde ... tal-texts/

You can block the entire sidepanel at Valuewalk with element hiding helper

valuewalk.com###sidebar

But there's no way to block Yavli at the base of the page.

My last four line on a particular custom filter disappear!!

Post by MichaelIsGreat »

Recently, something really weird happened with AdBlock Plus on m Custom Filters tab.

My top custom filters is 1) below. The problem is that the last four custom filters (lines) at the bottom regularly disappear without me removing them!!! That is more than odd, that is not normal at all. Anyone who could shed some light on this problem, I would be interested to read.

Hi, I'm having trouble with sponsored content from a group called Ligatus. It looks just like the Outbrain content except my Adblock is not blocking it (towards the bottem after the article).
http://www.linternaute.com/actualite/so ... o/?ref=yfp

I can't even right-click it to inspect it. Thanks.

Do the new $generichide and $genericblock filter options have any application here?
