"The new my.yahoo"

Ok maybe I am missing something, I haven't had to add a filter before -- ABP w/Easylist just works. I used to use "the cow" and was adept at adding filters in that but I can't figure out how to block a table ad on the classic my.yahoo with ABP. Since "the new my.yahoo" has been created they try to get that fact in front of you every five seconds. I don't want the new "my.yahoo" and don't want the table that tells me it is available to show up every five seconds.

In the past I have blocked most my.yahoo ads by looking for /s=15000 (that is in almost every my.yahoo ad) I tried everything in the links, etc and can't even get it to block the links.

For this table they rotate between 5 or 6 table data snips, below is one of them. I have already right-click "adblock images" blocked the background gradients/sprites but can't for the life of me figure out how to block anything in these stupid tables without blocking almost everything else on the page.

Here is a snip:
<table border=0 cellspacing=0 cellpadding=0><tr><td valign=top>

<div id="ycsp_W" class="ycspcol"><div id="interstitial_ycsp_W" class="interstitial_region"></div><table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="width:100%;border:1px solid #BF3904;background:#FFB017 url(http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/us. ... adient.png) bottom repeat-x;font-size:87%;font-family:Tahoma;margin-bottom:10px;">
<tr>
<td style="padding:0.6em 0.4em 0.6em 1em;color:#FFF;">
<p style="margin:0 0 0.4em;">
<strong style="font-style:italic;">

"The new backgrounds and layouts are awesome!"
<cite style="white-space:nowrap;">- S</cite>.
</strong>
</p>
<p style="margin:0;">
<strong>

</strong>

</p>
</td>
<td align="right" valign="middle" style="padding:0 0.8em 0 0.4em;">
<a href="http://us.ard.yahoo.com/..." style="position:relative;display:block;height:34px;text-decoration:none;color:#000;cursor:pointer;">
<span style="position:absolute;left:0px;top:0px;width:7px;height:100%;background:transparent url(http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/us. ... sprite.gif) 0px 0px no-repeat;"></span>
<strong style="position:absolute:left:7px;top:0px;height:100%;display:block;margin:0 7px;text-align:center;line-height:33px;white-space:nowrap;background:transparent url(http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/us. ... sprite.gif) 0px -37px repeat-x;">

</a>
</td>
</tr>
</table>

It's much easier if you just give us the link to this classic my yahoo. I can only seem to find the new beta...

Is this the filter string you seek?

Code: Select all

yahoo.com#div(class*=advertisement)
Pretty much all of yahoo's main ads are hidden with the EasyElement subscription. I take it that you are only using the EasyList?

To get to the classic you just to my.yahoo.com/switch and it will pull up the page that will let you stay with the old format.
